General Information

IraSME (International research activities by SMEs) is a network of ministries and funding agencies which are owners or managers of national and regional funding programmes for cooperative research projects between small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Research and technology organisations (RTOs) can be additional partners or subcontractors in most of those programmes. Against the background of growing competition in global markets, IraSME supports SMEs in their transnational innovation activities, helps them acquiring technological know-how, extending their networks and bridging the gap between research and innovation. Current network partners are Alberta (Canada), Austria, Belgium (Wallonia and Flanders), Czech Republic, the region Hauts-de-France, Germany, Luxembourg and Russia.

Open Call: 22nd call with deadline 26 September 2018

The current 22nd IraSME call for joint proposal applications is open till 26 September 2018.  Funding parties involved are Alberta (Canada), Belgium (Wallonia and Flanders), Czech Republic, Germany, Luxembourg and Russia. Austria and the region Hauts-de-France could not secure budget for this call, however we expect that they will be participating again in the 23rd call.

All countries and regions are published with their national programme on our network website. Please visit www.ira-sme.net for the latest updates.

Applications can only be handed in via email to info@ira-sme.net. If you are interested in the call and connected procedures, we strongly recommend getting in touch with the IraSME coordination office and your corresponding national funding agency as soon as possible.

Previous call activities

The previous 21st call for joint proposal ended on 28 March 2018. We received 10 applications, taking into account that Czech Republic was not participating in this call. Eight projects passed the eligibility check and are currently evaluated. The results of this call will be communicated to the applicants in the next couple of weeks.

Next Partnering Event: Aachen 26 November 2018

IraSME organises at least two partnering events per year in cooperation with our partner programme CORNET. The participation is free of charge and guests are welcome to join the event.

The next Partnering Event will take place in Aachen on 26 November 2018. The main focus is on the running joint calls for proposals in IraSME and CORNET. Main target groups of the event are small and medium-sized enterprises (SME), as well as SME associations, universities and research & technology organizations (RTO) that are interested in building transnational cooperation projects.

We are pleased to welcome a business delegation from Alberta to this occasion. We expect fruitful discussions about new potential transatlantic partnerships.

Previous Partnering Event: @Innovation Day of BMWi in Berlin

Our latest Partnering Event was integrated in the Innovation Day of the Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy on the premises of AiF Projekt GmbH in Berlin.

In a pleasant atmosphere, with perfect weather conditions, the participants were able to see examples of successful project funding, receive information about funding opportunities from the responsible agencies and learn about the goals of the ministry during a talk given by the Federal Minister of Economic Affairs and Energy, Mr. Peter Altmaier.

On the venue of the International Area, several organisations which support enterprises on their way into international markets presented their services. Also the collaboration of the ZIM programme with several partner countries and the corresponding funding opportunities were demonstrated.

In the face-to-face meetings entrepreneurs and scientists exchanged their ideas and requirements and discussed potential R&D partnerships.

Impressions from past events are summarized here: www.ira-sme.net/events/previous-events/
